with Dolina Somerville
(BHSc) Licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner

Facts:

  • Worldwide, one in three people suffer from the pain of arthritis.
  • Western Medicine treatments are generally limited to drugs or surgery.
  • Many people feel that they are victims of their condition.
  • Comments such as “I have bone-on-bone and nothing can be done except surgery” are commonplace.

However, there is an alternative approach to the treatment of arthritis, which may involve between one and five of the arms of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  • Acupuncture or self-acupressure.
  • Chinese Herbal Medicine
  • Tui Na (Traditional Chinese Medicine Remedial Massage)
  • Chinese Dietary Therapy
  • Chinese Exercise Therapy (Qi Gong, Tai Chi etc.)

Dolina’s decision to study Chinese Medicine occurred after successful treatments for her own chronic pain.

After suffering several accidents, she developed painful arthritis in the neck, hip and knee. In severe pain, taking strong painkillers and contemplating surgery she turned to acupuncture for relief. The rest is history.

Today, she has never had the surgeries and remains pain and drug free.

A large part of her focus these days is to promote the health benefits of Chinese Medicine.
